In the excitement of planting the seeds of the Polygonum Tinctorium I grew in Spain I spilled my seed packet over! I tried to spread them out but this is what my seedlings looked like last week. Not exactly the 14 inches apart that they are supposed to be, or even the 4inches apart I was planning on giving them!!
I have been very lucky growing indigo in the past: planting too late, in close quarters, in small pots, in poor soil, forgetting to water, over watering and, at times, completely ignoring them, and yet they survive, produce amazing colours and provide enough seeds to spread around the world. I hope I am lucky again this year. Any recommendations for when to thin these out and a safe way of transplanting them? Or do I just have to accept that I will lose a bunch of these seedlings?
Emocionada por sembrar las semillas de Polygonum Tinctorium que crecí en España se me cayó la bolsa de semillas. Intenté esparcirlas pero este fue el resultado la semana pasada. Ni se acerca a los 40cms que debería de haber dado entre cada planta o los 10cms que iba a darles.
He tenido mucha suerte creciendo esta planta: las he plantado demasiado tarde, en macetas demasiado pequeñas, sin suficiente espacio, en tierra de mala calidad, he olvidado regarlas, las he regado demasiado y a veces las he ignorado por completo, pero aun así, sobreviven, producen colores increíbles y me han proporcionado suficientes semillas para compartir por todo el mundo. Espero que vuelva a tener suerte este año. ¿Alguien puede recomendarme cuando entresacar el plantón y una manera segura de transplantarlas? ¿O tengo que aceptar que voy a perder un porcentaje?
